Victor L.E. McDowell, Sr. is the Founder and Lead Pastor of The Truth Church. He spent his youth roaming the hills of Mississippi before leaving for Savannah, GA. After receiving his high school diploma in 1988, Victor returned back to Mississippi to attend Mississippi Valley State University earning a B.A. in Music Performance. An educator for the past 19 years with the State of Tennessee and Mississippi, Victor has produced several successful music programs with inner-city youths. Victor started preaching at the age of 14. He has done extensive studying with Rockbridge Seminary and earned a master’s degree in Ministry Leadership. Currently, Victor is pursuing a doctorate degree from Jacksonville Theological Seminary in Theology. Victor was on the road for a decade as a highly successful itinerant evangelist and musician. Thousands of adults and young people from coast to coast came to a saving knowledge of Christ under his anointed teaching and preaching.

On December 1st, 2004, while playing the organ in Batesville, MS, God interrupted Victor’s music career with a startling new assignment. He was to start a new church which God named “The Truth”. This calling was directly confirmed by the Holy Spirit through His Word:

…..And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. – John 8:32

The interactive church was launched with only Victor in his 24 x 24 music studio. After three months, it pressed upon me to move the church in the city limits of Batesville. The Truth is “an interactive creative development church that is designed to train others for ministry”. In 2015, we moved into a new building in Batesville, MS located at 23109 Hwy 6 East. Currently, Truth is one of the fastest growing churches in North Mississippi placing emphasis on serving others as stated in Matthew 25.

From the humble beginnings are now the back story to a thriving congregation, where the excitement is contagious, the joy is real and the Word is taught with clarity and power. Excitement and expectation for what God has in store for The Truth’s next ten years has never been higher!
